Caucasian Ovcharka Society of America
There is a bunch of information about what the *best* food to feed is. Truth be told, there isn't a *best* food for all dogs. Each breed and dog have their own nutritional needs. With the Caucasian Shepherd, puppies need a lower protein with balanced minerals. Because of the specific balance of minerals needed for a CS puppy, we don't not recommend feeding a full-raw diet to dogs under a year.
While these beautiful dogs do eat more than smaller canines, they actually eat much less than many would think. Because of the breed's risk of both hip and elbow dysplasia it is important to keep them lean for their entire lives. Once the dog gets overweight, it takes a lot of work to get them healthy again. If you keep a close eye on your dogs and weigh them regularly, you should be able to catch any weight problems early.
